Hyundai is a Korean automotive brand owned by the Hyundai Motor Group which also owns Genesis Motors, and is a part of Kia Motors. Hyundai is the largest vehicle manufacturer in the world manufacturing more than 1.6 million units every year. Founded in 1967, the Hyundai Motor Company is a manufacturer of SUVs, sedans, sports cars and commercial vehicles. It provided the first all-electric car in 1991, namely the Sonata, and in 1995 they produced the new FGV-1, a hybrid-electric car. The first car called the Pony was released in 1975 and exported to Canada. Canada’s sales exceeded expectations, quickly hitting the one-million mark in 1985. In 1986, Hyundai started selling cars to the rest of the U.S.
The Hyundai Auto Canada Corp distributes Hyundai's cars across Canada and is headquartered in Ontario. The cars are sold and serviced by 192 Canadian dealerships. Some of the popular cars Hyundai manufactures include the Sonata, Santa Fe, Elantra and the FGV-1. The FGV-1 features full-time electric drive technology and was the result of the company’s first experiment with hybrid systems in the 1990s.
The Sonata a four-door sedan was originally unveiled in 1985. This model is currently in its sixth-generation and comes with a 2.4 L engine, with a great fuel economy. It has a 2.4 L DOHC 16-valve I4 engine with Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI), Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT), and 2-stage Variable Induction System (VIS).
The Elantra has a few impressive features, such as a structure made from Advanced High Strength Steel, and Autonomous Emergency Braking. This allows the new Elantra to deliver a groundbreaking driving experience and improved safety.
