A Brief History of Honda

It all began in 1946 when the company was founded by Soichiro Honda, an automotive enthusiast who worked as a mechanic. Honda gradually expanded its product line to countries throughout the world, and by 1991 they introduced the NSX supercar which was also the first all-aluminum vehicle.

Following the passing of their founder, the company turned their focus to sport utility vehicles which started to rapidly gain momentum. When the company was under threat to be taken over by Mitsubishi Motors, the management quickly went to task and manufactured recreational vehicles such as the popular CR-V and the Odyssey. This gave their competitors a run for their money.

Honda came to Canada in 1969 and built a larger manufacturing plant in Ontario in 1998. Today Honda employs around 19,000 Canadians and celebrated its 42nd anniversary in 2011.

The company has three divisions, including motorcycles, automobiles, and Acura. They have been actively involved in motorsports for decades until it’s final participation in Formal One in 1992. Following this, the brand also launched the Honda Aircraft Company.

Honda is synonymous with performance, which is why it is no surprise that some of their most popular vehicles include the Civic, the CR-V and the Accord. The Accord is available in a sedan and coupe and is considered to be one of the most stylish cars around.

The CR-V is undoubtedly very popular and comes with a very sporty redesign. It offers a combined fuel efficiency of 7.8 L per 100 km, and a 1.5 liter, 16-valve engine standard.

But the company does not only manufacture cars; they also sell trucks, minivans, and even electric models. They continue to expand their range, keeping up with ever-changing consumer requirements, industry changes, and technology updates. Honda always reminds us of performance, which is why so many people associate the brand with racing and a range of fast performing vehicles. The company first started participating in performance sport and racing in 1964. The company quit Formula One in the 1990s but announced their return for the 2018 season to supply engines to Toro Rosso.

Their range of cars is a reliable option, whether you are looking for a safe family car, or simply something that can perform when you need it to. With a wide range of products to offer, Honda remains a market leader and a force to be reckoned with.
